The sheets are soft,
But her mind is aloft.
About but never near.
They say madness has consumed her,
As she lay in the padded room there.
The diagnosis is atrocious,
It’s a most serious prognosis,
As they give her too many doses.
Hallow be her soul.
She’s lost, or so it’s been told.
Somehow gone, but never wondered.
Her mind is a land made of chaos.
As she thrashes against the braces,
Leaving red traces.
They can’t bring it back.
It’s gone now, as its world has grown cold.
Its mind has been sold.
The doctors had to fold.
Nothing it has become.
Nothing but numb.
