Being Critiqued

I’m not sure why but I personally find it easier being critiqued on my writing than on my art. I imagine I’m not alone on this.

Maybe it’s a matter of the effort put into the work. Words come more naturally to me because the story is already there in my head. But Art, it’s different. Only sometimes I can see the picture before it’s started. I have a general idea what I want to draw but more often than not, the end result isn’t what I hoped for in the beginning.

So, maybe it’s so difficult to be critiqued because we are so harsh on ourselves already. That when we get just plain non-constructive feedback, it’s basically putting the nails into our coffins.

Thank you for reading.
